Biography

Nathan Downie, known professionally as Nashīnasu ナシーナス, is a British multidisciplinary artist whose practice centres on anime-inspired surrealism and perceptual experience. Working across painting and drawing, his work explores inner worlds, emotional resonance, and altered ways of seeing through carefully constructed, cinematic compositions.

His practice is informed by an autism-shaped sensitivity to light, pattern, and atmosphere, which functions as a perceptual framework rather than a narrative subject. Through recurring visual elements and restrained compositional logic, Downie creates works that favour contemplation over explanation and invite prolonged engagement.

Nashīnasu works primarily in acrylic, oil, and graphite, producing singular original works and limited editions held in private collections internationally. His work has been presented in group and solo exhibitions across the United Kingdom, United States, and Asia, and has been featured in international publications.

Based in England, Downie continues to develop a long-term artistic practice focused on visual storytelling, perceptual depth, and collectible contemporary art.
